Plone Mini-Sprint, North Wales
28-March-2004
The event will be a 'Mini-Sprint' for members of the Plone (Open-Source, Content Management Framework) community EduPlone, preceding the next SIGOSSEE meeting in Tralee.
It was decided to hold the meet as one of the first tasks of the Standards & Architecture Group at the SIGOSSEE kick-off in Bremen. The event will be held between May 31st and June 2nd in Llanberis, near Bangor, North Wales, at the Electric Mountain visitor centre.
So far, three core members of the EduPlone group have shown interest in the event: Jens Klein (sofar responsible for Learning Sequence implementation, EduPlone-Types), Daniel Nouri (responsible for core components for the typed object relation stuff, Bibliotheca Hertziana requirements), Georg Pleger (standardization, networking). Georg Pleger is a member of the Standards & Architectures Group.

SIGOSSEE Kicks Off
28-February-2004
Amsterdam - 26/27 Feb 2004 -
The SIGOSSEE project got off to a flying start at its kick-off meeting at ITB, Bremen, Germany, this week, with the working groups setting themselves some very concrete aims and objectives for the coming three months before the next project meeting in Ireland.
The general feeling is one of great optimism for the project's future and its intended outcomes. Of note was the presence of several representatives of groups interested but not at the moment directly involved in the project. More details will follow in the full report on the kick-off.
The project members are looking forward to the initial reports back from the groups over the next few weeks with the initial agreed deliverables, going into the Irish meeting with a clear vision of the direction of the project and what can be achieved not only during its lifetime, but far into the future.
We expect a great deal of activity on the SIGOSSEE website over the coming months with much informed discussion and debate, as well as the development of new standards-based tools to further enable this.
The project has attracted great interest around the world since its inception - SIGOSSEE aims to be the conduit through which the OSS and eLearning communities can find a unified voice.
