The main outcomes of the SIGOSSEE project will be in-depth reports on key issues in Open-Source software for edustion in europe. This area is a space in which the working groups can work together, post and discuss work-in-progress, and develop final reports.

Report on Standards and Architectures for OSS
- This area contains resources and activities for the Working Group on standards and architectures. Our remit is to thoroughly investigate the issue of how open-source development efforts can collaboratively create sound and innovative architectures, supporting and leveraging new and existing interoperability standards.

User requirements and usability issues in the development of OSS
- This area contains resources and activities for the Working Group on user requirements and usability issues. Our remit is to investigate the issues of increasing the usability of open-source software, and of how open-source development efforts should be organised so as to understand and address the requirements of users.

Social, cultural and legal issues in OSS
- This area contains resources and activities for the Working Group on Social, cultural and legal issues in OSS. Software does not get developed in isolation from the social, political and legal context of wider society. How should open-source development adapt so as to meet social goals and avoid legal difficulties? This group will be investigating and reporting on these issues.

Organisation and management issues, sustainability and support infrastuctural needs for OSS
- This area contains resources and activities for the Working Group on Organisation and management issues. One of the key issues in open-source is how to increase its ability to sustain and manage strageic development paths while maintaining its traditional strengths of self-organisation and freedom to branch into new problems. This WG will report in-depth on this issue.

Report on take-up of OSS in selected institutions over the lifetime of the project, in order to determine best practice in different environments
- This area contains resources and activities for the Working Group on uptake. Our remit is to carefully track and report on the uptake of open-source software over the lifetime of the project, and the factors that influence this.
